Slight chance of rain predicted for Sacramento

The National Weather Service is predicting a slight chance of rain for Sacramento Thursday.

“It’s going to be very light,” said Eric Kurth, a weather service forecaster. “There will be better chances for precipitation north of Interstate 80.”

By midday Thursday, temperatures should rise to about 74 degrees in downtown Sacramento. Friday should remain relatively dry, with only a 5 percent chance of rain and a high temperature of 80 degrees, according to Kurth.

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. South-southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of rain before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 59. South wind around 6 mph.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. South wind 5 to 11 mph.

Saturday night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 71.
