Sacramento to be treated to rain on Halloween

A Pacific frontal system is forecast to slide into Northern California Friday afternoon, delivering rain and snow on Halloween.

Thursday will see the last of the mild, warm weather for a while. The high temperature Thursday is expected to be 79 under mostly sunny skies.

Clouds start to move in Thursday night, followed by a cold front that will move through Friday, bringing precipitation and cooler temperatures.

Trick-or-treaters could see fairly wet conditions Friday evening in Sacramento, according to the National Weather Service. Snow levels Friday evening are expected to be around the 7,000-foot elevation level – then drop overnight to around 5,000 feet by Saturday morning.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. South wind 7 to 9 mph.

Friday: Rain likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 11 a.m. High near 67. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half inch possible.

Friday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 50. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. South wind around 10 mph.
