A house fire at 3911 W. Pacific Ave., in Sacramento demanded the response of five fire engines on Friday morning.
Sacramento fire department firefighters responded to an 11:37 a.m. call at the one-story home just south of Sutterville Road and encountered heavy fire at the southeast corner of the structure, said Eric Blackmun, captain with Sacramento Fire Department.
“When we got there the fire was extending into another structure, but we kept it from spreading,” Blackmun said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Blackmun said.

The homeowner, Paul Murchison, said the fire started in a rear bedroom and that there was no suspicious activity at the home when the fire started.
“It was burning in my bedroom. I saw it and got the fire extinguisher and almost had it out, said Murchison, who has lived in the home since 1956.
