City Council meets

The Sacramento City Council is holding a Thursday night meeting beginning at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 915 I St. There are five topics on the consent calendar, but the third-party appeal of the Curtis Village Fuel Center has been continued to a date to be determined.

Weather warming

The Delta breeze won’t be around for a couple of days in Sacramento, according to the National Weather Service. That means temperatures will be a little hotter than normal on Thursday and Friday. Look for highs in the mid-90s both days in the Sacramento area.

Lottery commission holds public meeting

The California State Lottery Commission is hosting a public meeting at 10 a.m. at Lottery Headquarters, 700 N. 10th St., Sacramento. There are five action items to be discussed.

Davis Library Book Group to meet

The Davis Library Book Group discusses Alexie Sherman’s “Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian” at 6:30 p.m. at Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, 315 E. 14th St.

  • Semifinals week continues for the 40th annual San Francisco International Stand Up Comedy Competition. Performances featuring 10 professional comedians and a special guest host is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. at the University Union Ballroom at Sacramento State, 6000 J St. Free admission.
