Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services welcome donations of turkeys on Friday at the organization’s Oak Park headquarters.
Each year the food bank gathers up as many turkeys they can get for a give-away of Thanksgiving vittles scheduled for Monday.
Donations of turkeys to the food bank have soared in recent years from 2,766 in 2008 to a whopping 7,458 last year. Volunteers will be on hand to accept the turkeys from 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the food bank, 3333 Third Ave.
