Pack an umbrella

Bring an umbrella just in case a few sprinkles fall in Sacramento. A weak weather system did not amount to anything at all in the region overnight, but there is still a chance for scattered showers, according to the National Weather Service.

Eight to be added to California Hall of Fame

Eight people are to be inducted into the California Hall of Fame: Robert Downey Jr., David Hockney, Lester Holt, Bruce Lee, Ellen Ochoa, Buck Owens, Charles M. Schulz and Kristi Yamaguchi. The ninth annual induction ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the California Museum, 1020 O St. The recipients’ red-carpet arrivals are scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. in a public viewing area across the street from the museum between 10th and 11th streets. Rancho Cordova Center opening celebrated

Folsom Lake College celebrates the long-awaited opening of the new Rancho Cordova Center in a public ceremony and tour of the site, which has 24,000 square feet of instructional space, nine classrooms, a student learning center and open-access computer lab. Nonprofit donates shoes to students

The nonprofit group Chicas Latinas de Sacramento will donate more than 400 pairs of new shoes to students at Woodbine Elementary School, a donation equal to one pair for every student at the south Sacramento campus. The donation is set for 9:30 a.m. at Woodbine, 2500 52nd Ave. The group seeks to make a positive impact in the Sacramento community by improving and embracing Latino culture.

  • Babies up to age 2 and their caregivers will be treated to story time with songs, rhymes and finger-plays from 11 to 11:20 a.m. at the Sacramento Public Library’s Franklin Branch, 10055 Franklin High Road, Elk Grove.
