Sunny skies for Black Friday shoppers before storm

Sacramento will have clear skies today for Black Friday bargain hunters, but a storm is expected to move into the region later tonight.

The National Weather Service is predicting a high temperature of 63 degrees today for downtown, a day after the capital city tied a 1995 record of 70 degrees for Thanksgiving.

Bill Rasch, a forecaster with the weather service, said the incoming storm will bring up to an inch of rain by Sunday.

“I would say it’s going to stay showery through Sunday,” he said.

The weather service is calling for a snow advisory in the Sierra. Travelers on Interstate 80 and Highway 50 may be subject to chain controls and slippery conditions, Rasch warned. The latest system will bring up to a foot of fresh powder.
