Today in Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Wednesday

Light-rail line to airport to be discussed

The Sacramento Regional Transit District will host two more community meetings to discuss the proposed light-rail line to the Sacramento International Airport. RT’s meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I St., Sacramento. Another meeting is scheduled for Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the South Natomas Community Center, 2921 Truxel Road, Sacramento.

Stockings filled for foster youths

Volunteers with United Way’s Women in Philanthropy will wrap gifts, fill stockings and write notes for local foster youths. Gifts will go to children in Sacramento County’s Child Protective Services, while stockings and notes will go to foster children being prepared for emancipation by United Way nonprofits. Volunteers will participate from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the United Way’s Sacramento office.

  • Jackie Gage presents a jazz soul concert, noon to 1 p.m., in the University Union Redwood Room, California State University, Sacramento, 6000 J St. The event is free.
