Today in Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Monday

Katehi hearing

The state Assembly’s Higher Education Committee and the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance will hold an oversight hearing to examine conflicts and abuse in the outside employment of executives at California’s public universities. UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi, who has come under fire recently for holding highly paid outside positions, will testify. Students and members of the public are invited to attend and speak. The hearing is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. in Room 437 of the state Capitol.

Vietnam vets

The Rancho Cordova City Council will honor veterans who served in Vietnam between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, at a 5:30 p.m. ceremony. Veterans will receive a special Vietnam veteran lapel pin from the City Council during its meeting. Community members are invited. The meeting is at 2729 Prospect Park Drive, Rancho Cordova.

Citrus Heights

The monthly Residents Empowerment Association of Citrus Heights meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Police Department Community Room, 6315 Fountain Square Drive. Call 916-725-2448 for more information.

Yolobus changes

Possible changes to routes 35 and 39 will be discussed at a Yolobus open house from 3 to 5 p.m. at the West Sacramento Recreation Center, 2801 Jefferson Blvd. City Public Works Department and Yolo County Transportation District officials will take part in the discussion. Things to do

Chicago Fire Pizza will be welcomed to Elk Grove by local leaders and community members. The Folsom-based pizza chain fills a space left vacant by TGI Fridays last year. It joins other recent additions to the Elk Grove dining scene including Jack’s Urban Eats, Oz Korean BBQ and Blast 825. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at 7101 Laguna Blvd., Elk Grove.
