Tribe to host meeting on Elk Grove casino plan

The Wilton Rancheria plans a community meeting to share information about its proposed Elk Grove casino. The townhall-style session is planned for the Falls Event Center, 8280 Elk Grove Blvd., starting at 5:30 p.m. Tribal leaders will present an overview of their resort and casino project, hear comments and answer questions. Roseville council to vote on A-frame signs

Roseville City Council members will decide Wednesday whether to make the city’s temporary sidewalk-sign ordinance permanent. The rules would allow portable signs but require that shopowners bring them in at night. A-frame signs are considered effective low-cost ways for shops and restaurants to attract customers. The council meets at 7 p.m. in its City Hall chambers, 311 Vernon Street, Roseville.

Kids’ summer film series

The Reel Kids Summer Movie Series, which continues every Wednesday and Thursday morning through Aug. 11, will show “The Peanuts Movie” at the Tower Theatre, 2508 Land Park Drive, Sacramento, at 10 a.m. Admission is $1.

Republic FC takes on Real Monarchs and asks fans for toilet paper

Sacramento professional soccer team Republic FC will take on the Real Monarchs of Salt Lake City at Bonney Field, 1600 Exposition Blvd., Sacramento, at 8 p.m. Ticket prices start at $20. For more information go to www.sacrepublicfc.com or call 916-307-6100. At Wednesday’s match, the team is helping local nonprofit Loaves & Fishes kick off its annual toilet paper drive. Fans are encouraged to bring toilet paper to the stadium, named for a local plumbing firm.
