Golden 1 Center keeps adding events to its calendar, announcing Monday that Cirque du Soleil will come to the new downtown Sacramento arena for a five-day run starting Nov. 30.

The acclaimed theatrical circus group will make its Golden 1 debut with performances of the touring show “Toruk – the First Flight,” based on the popular science-fiction movie “Avatar.”

It was the second event announced Monday. Earlier in the day, Golden 1 officials said the arena will host a college basketball doubleheader Nov. 21. Sacramento State will play UC Davis and Cal will play San Diego State.

For the Cirque du Soleil shows, presale tickets for Cirque Club members began Monday morning. General public sales will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at www.cirquedusoleil.com/toruk.

Golden 1 Center, the new home of the Sacramento Kings, will open Oct. 4 and 5 with a pair of concerts by Paul McCartney.
