A Sacramento Regional Transit light-rail train struck and killed a pedestrian in College Greens on Tuesday afternoon, agency officials said.
The pedestrian, described as a male in his 70s, was crossing the tracks when hit by a downtown-bound train about 3:14 p.m.
RT officials said they are reviewing train video to analyze the circumstances. The agency said witness accounts suggested the pedestrian may have fallen under the train trying to jump between train cars.
The incident forced closure of a portion of the Gold Line. RT used buses to transport passengers between the University/65th Street Station and the Watt/Manlove Station.
