A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday night in Davis after police said he choked and threatened to kill his mother.
Police officers went to a residence in the 1500 block of Lemon Lane shortly before 11 p.m. after receiving a report of threats against a 50-year-old woman.
An officer contacted a man, later identified as Michael Anthony Carpenter, in front of the house. Carpenter, the victim’s son, refused to comply with the officer’s orders and started running toward the victim, according to a Davis Police Department news release. The officer used a stun gun to subdue Carpenter.
The woman told officers that Carpenter threatened to kill her, choke her and attempted to stab her with a knife. She was treated at Sutter Davis Hospital.
