A 51-year-old Sacramento man was arrested early Thursday after shooting his wife during an argument late Wednesday, Sacramento Police said.
Sgt. Bryce Heinlein, police spokesman, said neighbors called just before 9 p.m. to report shots fired in the 6800 block of 21st Street and a “female screaming in her yard with a gunshot wound.”
Heinlein said Gary Daniels, 51, shot his wife while their two daughters were inside their home. “A verbal altercation turned physical,” Heinlein said.
The wife was able to take her daughters outside, then traveled to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries that were not life-threatening, Heinlein said.

Officers received assistance from Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department SWAT to establish a perimeter while Daniels stayed inside his home, Heinlein said.
“Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution,” he said.
By 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Daniels was found in his garage and surrendered to officers. He was taken into custody, then transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained from falling on glass before officers responded, Heinlein said.
“He will be arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence related charges,” Heinlein said.
Heinlein added that Daniels was “intoxicated,” and it is not yet known if the altercation was drug or alcohol induced.
