A 69-year-old Sacramento man died in Fair Oaks on Saturday night when he was struck by a car while walking in the middle of a road, officials say.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Chad Hertzell said the man was believed to be walking home from Mercy San Juan Medical Center. “He was still wearing a medical bracelet,” Hertzell said.
A Fair Oaks man driving east in a Hyundai Accent on Madison Avenue hit the man near Linda Sue Way, Hertzell said. The driver had his headlights on but did not see the pedestrian in time to stop.
“The pedestrian went through the windshield and was killed from impact,” he said.

Hertzell said the driver was not speeding. The portion of Madison Avenue where the accident occurred has no overhead lighting and no sidewalk, he added.
