The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed Tuesday by a sport-utility vehicle on Walerga Road at Elkhorn Boulevard.
The coroner’s website identified her as 64-year-old Janice Carpenter. A hometown for her was not listed.
The CHP said about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, Carpenter stepped from the curb in front of a SUV traveling eastbound. Carpenter was in the crosswalk, but the sport-utility vehicle had a green light, according to the CHP.
The driver, who stopped after the crash, did not see Carpenter, according to the CHP.
