A 3-year-old girl was killed by gunfire Sunday night in Stockton while riding with family members in a car.
Police said in a Facebook posting that the fatal shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Commerce Street. The family drove the child directly to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said they had no information regarding a suspect or a motive for the shooting. They said detectives believe the family’s vehicle was not the intended target but was caught in the middle of the gunfire.
Detectives are looking for a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo with tinted windows or a dark Chevrolet Camaro.
