Lincoln men who run martial arts studio arrested for illegal pot, guns

Placer County Sheriff’s Office

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday it had arrested two Lincoln-area men on suspicion of shipping marijuana out of state and illegal possession of firearms.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s Special Operations Unit and U.S. Postal Inspectors served a search warrant at 5151 Wise Road, in a rural area northeast of central Lincoln, the Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page Thursday.

Investigators arrested Brandon Cronkhite and Joshua Szlachciuk, it said. They found 60 marijuana plants, 65 pounds of processed marijuana and concentrated cannabis, it said. Cronkhite and Szlachciuk were booked into the Placer County Jail in Auburn, according to the Facebook post.

“United States Postal Service Inspectors had been investigating the residents at 5151 Wise Road for sending and receiving in excess of 100 parcels to addresses in Florida and Tennessee,” the sheriff’s Facebook post says. “Two incoming cash parcels were seized (containing $9,000 each) and seven outgoing parcels were seized with four pounds of marijuana and approximately ½ pound of processed marijuana concentrate.”

A Brandon Cronkhite is listed as the owner of STKD Academy of Striking Arts in downtown Lincoln on the martial arts studio’s website. Szlachciuk is named as its “Chief Instructor/Founder,” with a photograph that appears to show the same man portrayed in the sheriff’s booking photograph.

The STKD studio offers Tae Kwon Do classes to children and adults, its website says.
