A 27-year-old Oroville woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of starting a wildfire in Butte County.
Shannon Lian Davis was arrested by law enforcement officers with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. She is suspected of setting several fires Thursday that burned a half-acre in the area of Wheelock Road and Highway 70, according to a Cal Fire news release. The fires were reported to the agency’s Oroville Emergency Command Center at 12:47 p.m.
Davis also is a suspect in two additional fires and one attempted fire that occurred Wednesday, officials said. She was booked into the Butte County jail on one count of arson and one count of possession of a controlled substance. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The California Highway Patrol and Butte County Sheriff’s Office assisted Cal Fire investigators in Davis’ arrest.
