Firefighters make rescue at Foothill Farms-area apartment complex

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel rescued a person from the balcony of a Foothill Farms-area apartment complex Saturday morning as a fire burned inside, officials said.

The person was trapped on the balcony of the complex about 10:30 a.m., said Maurice Johnson, assistant fire chief. Fire crews used a ladder to rescue the person. Johnson did not have details about the person rescued, except that the person was not injured.

After the rescue, firefighters contained the blaze. It caused about $40,000 in damage to the complex in the 4400 block of Elkhorn Boulevard, Johnson said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
