A big rig carrying powdered limestone crashed off to the side of northbound Interstate 5 on Thursday morning near Elk Grove, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The crash, reported at 7:19 a.m., has slowed traffic back one mile to Hood Franklin Road, according to the state Department of Transportation. Drivers are advised to use caution and expect delays, according to Caltrans.
The rig’s trailers were jackknifed, one on top of the other. The cab of the rig was heavily damaged.
