The two people who died in a vehicle collision in Carmichael on Thursday evening have been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Lisa Stevens, 58, of Carmichael and Noel Mee, 61, of Carmichael were killed when their car was hit broadside by another vehicle.

The fatal collision was reported at 6:01 p.m. Thursday at Garfield Avenue and Kiva Drive, north of Winding Way.

The California Highway Patrol said a black Lexus was northbound on Garfield south of Kiva traveling at a high speed and a red Honda with Stevens and Mee was southbound on Garfield in the left-turn lane. As the Honda was turning from Garfield onto Kiva it was hit broadside by the Lexus.

The CHP said Mee, the passenger in the Honda, and Stevens, the driver of the Honda, died later at an area hospital. The 20-year-old driver of the Lexus also was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and later released.

The CHP said in a news release that criminal charges were being explored in connection with the actions of the Lexus driver, who was not identified.
