Credit the sensitive nose of a Placer County sheriff’s dog for discovering a large load of marijuana last week in a vehicle on Interstate 80.

Even though the pot was vacuum-sealed in bags and stuffed in three big boxes, the canine named Chase sniffed out the 54 pounds of marijuana Thursday on I-80 west of Highway 267 in the north Lake Tahoe area, according to a Placer County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Chase and his handler, Deputy Josh Buckley, were called to assist California Highway Patrol officers.
