Firefighters are investigating a blaze that burned a large house along Bradshaw Road in the Vineyard area.
Fire crews were called to the home in the 8100 block of Bradshaw Road near Vintage Park Drive about 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters immediately began searching the home for possible trapped residents.
A search found that nobody was inside the single-story house, according to a Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District news release. Two dogs were found dead in the home.
The home, located down a long driveway from Bradshaw Road, was far from the nearest hydrant. Extra fire engines were called and 34 firefighters were needed to put out the blaze.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury. The home, which had extensive smoke and fire damage, was estimated to have sustained $200,000 in damage.
The fire, which appears to have started in the kitchen-living room area, is under investigation. The investigation was expected to close northbound Bradshaw Road at Vintage Park Drive through Thursday morning.
