One man was shot early Tuesday morning on Highway 99 near Mack Road, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. when a car approached another vehicle on southbound Highway 99, and the occupant fired a weapon, hitting the man, said Sgt. Bryce Heinlein of the Sacramento Police Department.
“Not everyone is being cooperative,” Heinlein said. “It appears the (people in the) vehicles knew each other and it stemmed from a possible incident earlier (Monday evening.)”
After the shot was fired, the car with the injured man continued down the highway to Elk Grove Boulevard, where it was parked and the occupant called police, Heinlein said.

The injured man sustained non-life threatening injuries, and is in stable condition at a local hospital, Heinlein added.
The incident is under investigation and is possibly gang related, Heinlein said.
