Sacramento cop's drug arrest follows investigation stemming from Oct. 13 tip
A Sacramento police officer arrested on drug-related charges Friday was released from jail Saturday on $10,000 bail, the Police Department said.
Isaac Richard Knutila was arrested on suspicion of possessing amphetamines, more than an ounce of marijuana and an unidentified controlled substance, according to a news release.
The arrest followed an investigation that began with an Oct. 13 tip about Knutila’s possible involvement in prostitution-related activity at a Sacramento hotel, said Deputy Chief Brian Louie of the Sacramento Police Department.
“At this point, he has not been arrested on charges stemming from that,” spokesman Matthew McPhail said Sunday, referring to the prostitution-related activity. “The investigation is ongoing.”
Louie noted: “We have dedicated a vast amount of internal and external resources to investigate (the prostitution) allegations.”
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department website, Knutila was released from county jail on Saturday.
The Sheriff’s Department was not available for comment.
