The bystander killed by gunfire outside Capitol Casino early Sunday has been identified as Nicholas Broadway of Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office website.

Broadway, 36, was believed to have been shot while a suspect was engaged in a gun battle with a Sacramento police officer in the parking lot of the cardroom around 1:37 a.m, according to Sacramento Police Department spokesman Matthew McPhail. The suspect fled and remains on the loose.
