Auburn police are investigating a possible homicide after a man was found dead with gunshot wounds at a residence Monday night.
Police received a call about 9:58 p.m. regarding a man who was unresponsive at a home in the 100 block of Portland Avenue. Patrol officers and medical personnel responded and found a 53-year-old man dead.
Police said the man had gunshot wounds and his death is being investigated as a possible homicide. As of Tuesday afternoon, police said they had no suspects.
Police officers and investigators worked through the night on the investigation and remained at the scene Tuesday. Auburn police are being assisted by the California Department of Justice and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, according to a Police Department news release.

Investigators released descriptions of two vehicles of interest in the case. One is a Honda Civic, possibly a 2000 model, baby or light blue, with four doors. The other is a dark-colored, possibly 2000 model, large four-door sedan.
