Two people were killed in a single-car crash early Friday in Roseville after apparently trying to elude deputies in an attempted traffic stop, authorities said.
Roseville police said they responded to the crash at 3:19 a.m. on Industrial Avenue at Alantown Drive, near Highway 65, according to officials.
A deputy with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the driver on Industrial Avenue, but the driver sped away, eventually losing control of the vehicle and hitting a median, authorities said. The crash occurred in Roseville, after the pursuit started in the unincorporated county, so the police responded to it.
Both occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was identified.

The vehicle was going more than 80 mph as the driver tried to elude deputies, said Officer Daniel Wanamaker of the Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team. One occupant of the vehicle was ejected while the other remained in the vehicle, which burst into flames, he said.
