A woman died Sunday evening in West Sacramento after being hit by an Amtrak train enroute to Sacramento from Oakland, Amtrak officials report.
Marc Magliari, spokesman for Amtrak, said the person was struck around 5 p.m.
Sgt. Roger Kinney of the West Sacramento Police Department said the woman was struck east of Harbor Boulevard in West Sacramento. Kinney said he did not know why the woman was on the railway property but said the investigation was continuing.
The 734 Capitol Corridor train was traveling from Oakland to Sacramento. Magliari said the train would be delayed until further notice.
