Two people were wounded Monday night in North Highlands by gunfire from another vehicle.

Someone reported a shooting to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department about 7:20 p.m. in the 6900 block of Gillingham Way, near Antelope Road and Watt Avenue.

Deputies said one vehicle was following another when both turned onto Gillingham Way. Then the light-colored four-door sedan carrying the assailants moved next to the other car.

Several shots were fired from the sedan, striking a 22-year-old woman and 26-year-old man. They suffered serious injury, but their wounds were not life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s news release.

Their car continued then struck a parked car. The car with the shooter drove away.
