Negotiators with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and SWAT deputies were trying to get a man suspected in a domestic violence incident, who had holed up in a Cameron Park apartment, to give himself up Thursday night.
“The suspect is still barricaded inside the residence,” the Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook at 6 p.m. “We have deployed multiple rounds of tear gas into the residence with the hopes of him peacefully surrendering. He responded with multiple gun shots.”
At 9:20 p.m., deputies said the standoff continued with the Folsom Police Department SWAT team was on scene standing by to assist. Road closures and evacuations remained in effect.
Sgt. Tasha Thompson said the Sheriff’s Office received a call about 6:15 a.m. Thursday of a domestic violence incident in the 3300 block of La Canada Drive. Deputies were told that a man with a gun was holding a woman and a small child against their will.

Deputies arrived on scene and the man released the woman and child. Both were safe, Thompson said.
