A young woman was killed Monday when hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Arden Arcade.
The Sacramento County coroner’s website identified her as Alexis Landeros, 18, of Sacramento.
Landeros was crossing Marconi Avenue about 4:20 p.m. Monday near Ashbourne Drive, where the roadway is two lanes in each direction with a two-way left turn lane in between. Her mother was on the opposite side of the road.
Landeros crossed into the two-way left turn lane where a motorist traveling in the eastbound fast lane saw her and began slowing, according to the California Highway Patrol. Meanwhile, a motorist in a Jeep Wrangler in the eastbound slow lane also saw her and believed Landeros was going to wait for traffic.

The Wrangler driver kept going just as Landeros stepped in the path of her vehicle, according to the CHP. The driver tried to swerve out of the way but Landeros was struck.
Landeros was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
