After a teenage bicyclist was rescued Wednesday after falling through thinning ice on Lake Baron, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office warns area residents and visitors to be wary of such areas.

The 13-year-old boy was riding on the ice at the lake at Tahoe Paradise Park before falling completely into the water. The boy was rescued and is safe, the Sheriff’s Office reports.

With warming temperatures, the ice is a dangerous place for any such activity in the Tahoe Basin, authorities said.
