Two arrested in Citrus Heights armed robberies

Citrus Heights police arrested suspects in two armed robberies Monday night, including one targeting a pizza delivery driver.

Officers responded about 8 p.m. to a report of a robbery in the area of Fesler Court, west of Sunrise Boulevard between Antelope Road and Auburn Boulevard. A pizza delivery driver told officers that he was approached by at least two people, one of whom pointed a gun at him and took the pizza and a cellphone, according to a Police Department news release.

While officers were investigating this incident, they received a report of another robbery, this one in the area of Greenback Lane and Mariposa Avenue. The victim told dispatchers that the robbers pointed a gun and took money. The descriptions of the people involved and the weapon matched those in the first robbery, the release said.

Police spotted the suspect vehicle shortly after the robbery and attempted to stop the car. Several occupants got out of the vehicle and left the area. Officers apprehended two of them and found evidence from the previous robbery inside the vehicle, police said.

Investigators were continuing to gather evidence evidence and surveillance video in both cases Tuesday. Police said all those involved appeared to be juveniles.

Anyone with information related to the robberies is asked to call the Citrus Heights Police Department at 916-727-5500.
