A man has been convicted in Sacramento Superior Court in a series of sexual assaults and robberies.
Jurors returned guilty verdicts Tuesday against Jerry West Jr., 27, on charges of sexual assault, assault with a firearm, kidnapping, robbery and carjacking.
A news release from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said that on Aug. 31, 2015, West put a gun to a woman’s head and demanded her cellphone. He then groped her before fleeing in her vehicle.
On Sept. 22, 2015, according to the district attorney, two women were in a parked vehicle when West opened the car door and placed a gun to the head of the passenger and demanded money.

He then put the gun to the driver’s head and demanded her property before pistol-whipping her.
The news release said he groped both victims at gunpoint and forced one of the women into a sex act. When the driver struggled for West’s gun, he fired but missed both women.
On Sept. 25, 2015, West grabbed a woman and tightly covered her mouth. He then dragged her into Sacramento’s Southside Park, where he demanded her property, groped her and threatened her life, according to the news release.
She broke free and ran to a nearby home, where she called 911. The woman’s cellphone was traced to West. Prosecutors say DNA evidence linked West to the first two attacks.
West has two prior strikes for carjacking. He is scheduled for sentencing April 7.
