A man killed last week near Gold River when he was struck by a truck or SUV has been identified by coroner’s deputies.
Johnathan Morgan, 66, was hit as he crossed Sunrise Boulevard north of Coloma Road. A city of residence for Morgan was not listed on the Sacramento County coroner’s website.
Officer Tommy Riggin, CHP spokesman, said officers responded to the call of a man hit by a vehicle about 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Morgan, who was not in a crosswalk, was found in the northbound fast lane of traffic about 300 feet north of Coloma Road.
Officers found skid marks indicating the driver of the vehicle tried to stop before hitting the pedestrian, but then left the scene, he said.

No witnesses were located, but officers found a mirror at the scene that indicates the vehicle was either a truck or an SUV, Riggin said.
