Five adults and one dog were safely removed from a south Sacramento home Thursday morning after a fire severely damaged a home, the Sacramento Fire Department reports.

Five people and a dog escaped a house fire Thursday morning in south Sacramento.

It was initially reported that a person was trapped inside a home in the 2300 block of 51st Avenue, but Sacramento Fire Department personnel discovered upon arrival that all residents had gotten out safely.

Fire Department crews responded the blaze about 6:15 a.m. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
