Identity of Sacramento shooting victim released by coroner

Coroner’s deputies released the name of the young man who was found shot dead in south Sacramento over the weekend.

The victim was listed as Dion Marcell Harris, 29, of Sacramento on the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office website.

Sacramento police said that officers responded at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday to the 7900 block of 48th Avenue, where a shooting had been reported. Once at the scene, officers found Harris dead in front of a home.

Officers first tried to save his life, but were not successful. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made, and the motive for the killing has not yet been established.
