An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after sheriff’s deputies allege he fought and killed another young man.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nicholas Joseph Scott on Tuesday in the stabbing death of another 18-year-old man in Rio Linda the night before. The dead man has not been identified.
Deputies were called to the 6700 block of West Second Street in Rio Linda at 6:50 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found an 18-year-old man who had been stabbed in the upper torso. Deputies also found Scott inside the residence with major injuries to his hands.
Both men were taken to an area hospital, and the man who had been stabbed in the torso died of his injuries.

Sgt. Tony Turnbull, sheriff’s spokesman, said the two had had past issues and the man who died had gone to Scott’s residence, where the two got into a fight. The Sheriff’s Department investigation will be forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office to determine eventual charges, if any, for Scott.
Scott is not eligible for bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Sacramento Superior Court.
