A Sacramento State student saw her bicycle being ridden on the edge of campus on Monday and called university police, who were able to catch the suspected thief before he pedaled away.
The student reported the theft of the bike at 7:30 p.m. Monday. She later saw a man on her bicycle near the Hornet tunnel, a pedestrian and cycling tunnel that goes from the campus to the neighborhood on the west side of the university.
She called Sacramento State police with a good description of the thief. Officers found, then arrested 26-year-old Michael Andrew Triplett.
Triplett was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools and violation of probation.
