A man in a wheelchair early Thursday was hit and killed by a car in North Highlands.
California Highway Patrol Officer Chad Hertzell said that the man was traveling in his wheelchair across Watt Avenue near Myrtle Avenue outside of a crosswalk at about 3:45 a.m.
The man had traveled across several lanes on Watt when he was struck by the southbound car on the darkened road. The man, who was dressed in dark clothing, died at the scene.
