A student at Rosemont High School was arrested after allegedly posting a perceived threat on social media.
The student is suspected of posting what appeared to be an assault rifle. Sacramento police worked with Rosemont High administrators and a school resource officer to identify the suspect as a student at the school.
Officers went to the boy’s house, where they spoke with him. He was then booked on a threats-related charge, police said.
Although the firearm in the online posting appeared to be an assault weapon, the weapon depicted in the post was recovered and turned out to be an airsoft rifle, which shoots plastic pellets.
