Man with gunshot wound found on roadside near Knights Landing

A man was wounded late Monday after he reportedly was taken from Woodland to an area outside Knights Landing and shot.

Yolo County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched just before 11 p.m. to the area of County Roads 116a and 116b, southeast of Knights Landing, after receiving a 911 call from a shooting victim. They found a 24-year-old man on the side of the road with an apparent gunshot wound, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

The man told deputies that he had been taken from Woodland and shot. The man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. No information about his condition was available Tuesday afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The person or people responsible for the shooting had not been identified Tuesday, but the victim does not appear to have been randomly targeted, the news release said.
