Body found in field along Highway 99 is identified as Sacramento man

The name of the man whose body was found in a field along Highway 99 has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 52-year-old Adrian Moore of Sacramento.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel were dispatched just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday to the field in the 5800 block of Orange Avenue, where a body was found. Firefighters pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Firefighters did not believe that the man’s death was from natural causes, so they summoned Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies. The body was found not far from a homeless camp.

During their investigation, deputies discovered a crime scene at nearby Jack Sheldon Park, which is just south of where Moore’s body was found. A coroner’s deputy’s preliminary examination of the body indicated that Moore had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Detectives were trying to determine when the shooting occurred. No motive or suspect description is available.
