Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputy Arthur Williams did not expect such joy to happen when he responded to a domestic disturbance call in Marysville.
But the raised voices that prompted the 11 a.m. call on Wednesday were not a verbal dispute, but a frantic soon-to-be father and mother who had gone into labor.
Williams was the first responder on the scene and immediately called for medical aid, because the baby was not going to wait, according to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.
“After guiding mom to a couch, moments later Deputy Williams made the catch of his life,” according to the department.
That catch was 5-pound, 12-ounce baby girl Harley Rose.
Mom and baby were transported safely to the hospital for post-natal care and both are doing well.
“Welcome to Yuba County little Harley! We look forward to watching you grow!” the sheriff’s Facebook page said.
