A Fresno man was arrested after police say he kidnapped a young child in Old Sacramento Thursday afternoon, a Sacramento Police department release said.
The kidnapping was reported to police at 7:05 p.m. in front of a business on 2nd Street in Old Sacramento. The man, 19-year-old Paris Drewmoore, allegedly went up to a mother who was with her young child and began making remarks at her, saying that the child belonged to him, the release said. Police said the man then assaulted the mother and grabbed the child.
“The suspect took the child and ran approximately 50 yards before letting the child go,” the press release said.“ Alert witnesses followed the suspect and directed the responding officers to the suspect’s location where he was detained.”
Drewmoore was tracked down and arrested. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on kidnapping and narcotics possession charges.
