The death of a man who was found shot in a south Sacramento County orchard Thursday morning is being investigated as a homicide.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded about 9 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a man who was unresponsive in an orchard near Twin Cities Road, just east of River Road. A worker had discovered the man during morning rounds of the orchard, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
Deputies found the man, who had a gunshot wound to his upper body. Walnut Grove Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced the man dead.
Detectives believe the victim was killed at the location where the body was found, the news release said. The motive for the slaying has not been determined, and no suspect description was available.
