A man found shot to death last week in a Walnut Grove-area orchard has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Demoria Ellis-Rivers.
The Coroner’s Office did not list a city of residence for Ellis-Rivers, who was found by a worker Thursday morning in an orchard near Twin Cities Road, just east of River Road.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded about 9 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a man who was unresponsive and found Ellis-Rivers with a gunshot wound to his upper body, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. Walnut Grove Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced him dead.
Detectives believe Ellis-Rivers was killed at the location where his body was found, the news release said. A motive for the killing has not been determined and no suspect has been identified.
