A naked man was arrested Monday evening after trying to steal a woman’s car outside a South Lake Tahoe convenience store, according to police.

A 22-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was leaving the 7-Eleven at 3923 Pioneer Trail when she saw a naked man walking across the street, appearing to make eye contact with her, according to a department news release.

When she ran to her white BMW to lock herself in, the man opened the door and tried getting the woman out of her car by pulling on her hair and clothes, the release said.

When the woman resisted, the man got into her car and tried to steal it while she remained inside. Bystanders were able to pull the man out, but he ran across the street to his hotel room.

South Lake Tahoe police officers arrested 29-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez of South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of carjacking and false imprisonment. He was booked into the El Dorado County Jail without incident.

Anyone who witnessed or video recorded the incident and did not speak to officers Monday night are asked to contact the department’s Detective Division at 530-542-6100.
